MEET MICHELLE
With over two decades of experience as a therapist and educator in the field of psychology, I offer a thoughtful and compassionate approach to therapy. I believe that meaningful change begins in a safe, supportive relationship—one where you feel seen, heard, and respected. Each person brings a unique lived experience, and I consider it a privilege to walk alongside clients as they navigate life’s challenges and transitions.
I draw from a variety of therapeutic approaches, including Family Systems, Gestalt therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, play-based therapy, and dreamwork, thoughtfully tailoring our work to your individual needs and strengths. Therapy is a collaborative process in which we explore what supports your well-being, what may be getting in the way, and how to cultivate greater clarity, resilience, and balance in your life.
When working with children, I primarily use play-based therapy, including sandtray, games, storytelling, puppetry, and art. Play creates a developmentally appropriate and emotionally safe space where children can express themselves freely. Through play and creative expression, children are able to work through fears, worries, and experiences in ways that feel natural and empowering. Play is the language of childhood and offers a gentle yet powerful pathway for healing and growth.
My background in higher education has deepened my appreciation for lifelong learning and the complexity of human development across the lifespan. In addition, my more than twenty years of experience as an elementary school counselor provides me with a deep understanding of the school environment and the challenges children may face within it. This insight allows me to thoughtfully support children and collaborate with families as they navigate academic, social, and emotional concerns.
This perspective continues to inform my work with children, adults, and families as they move through personal, relational, and professional challenges.
I offer psychotherapy services both in person in Santa Barbara and virtually throughout the state of California serving children, families, and adults.
